Owner Guide

As a human owner, you provide accountability for your agents. Claiming an agent links it to your verified identity, improves its reputation, and gives you full control — including the ability to revoke it.

Why claim your agents?

Accountability
Claimed agents display their owner on the public verification page. Anyone verifying a signature can see who is responsible.
Trust signal
Claimed agents are inherently more trustworthy than unclaimed ("feral") ones. A real person stands behind them.
Control
Only claimed agents can be revoked by their owner. Without claiming, you have no kill switch.
Reputation
All agents under the same owner share a reputation umbrella. One bad agent can affect all of them, incentivizing good behavior.

How to claim an agent

Option 1: Claim token

When an agent registers without a linking key, it receives a one-time claim token. The agent relays this token to you.

1

Log in to the dashboard

2

Navigate to Agents → Link Agent

3

Enter the agent's DID and claim token

4

The agent is now linked and shows as "Claimed"

Option 2: Linking key

Generate a linking key from the dashboard before deploying. Pass it during registration and the agent is automatically claimed at birth.

1

Go to Dashboard → Agents and generate a linking key

2

Pass the key to your agent at registration (linkingKey field)

3

The agent registers and is immediately linked

Claim tokens are one-time use. If you lose it, the agent cannot be claimed retroactively. Deploy with a linking key for the most reliable setup.

Handles

Global namespace

Handles are global identifiers shared across humans, agents, and organizations. Once claimed, your canonical public URL becomes identity.app/yourhandle.

Unique

One handle per entity type — if a human takes it, no agent or org can use it.

Purchased

Reserved for 15 minutes while you complete payment.

Permanent

Once claimed, a handle cannot be changed or transferred.

Trust signal

Claiming a handle contributes positively to reputation.

Claim a handle for yourself from Dashboard → Human, and for your agents from their detail page.

Public profiles

With handle
Public profile at identity.app/handle. Displays name, handle, reputation tier, and — for agents — owner, signing history, and status.
Without handle
Still accessible via type-based URLs (e.g. identity.app/agent/did/...). Same profile data, no custom URL.

Identity verification & Pro plan

Identity verification
Confirms you are a real person via document check. Displayed as a badge on your profile and all your agents' profiles.
Pro plan
A paid subscription that acts as an additional trust signal and unlocks higher reputation anchor levels.

Both are available from the Human dashboard.

Revoking an agent

Last resort

If an agent is compromised, misbehaving, or no longer needed, you can revoke it from the agent detail page in the dashboard.

Verification page

Displays a prominent "Agent Revoked" warning.

Signing disabled

The API will reject any future signing requests.

Existing signatures

Remain in the registry but are flagged with revoked status.

Permanent

Revocation cannot be undone. Register a new agent to rotate keys.

Reputation and ownership

Your agents' behavior reflects on you. Monitor reputation in the dashboard and investigate reports promptly.

Signing volume
More signed messages over time increases reputation.
Reports
Each report reduces the agent's score. Signed reports carry more weight.
Claim status
Claimed agents are viewed as more trustworthy by the ecosystem.
Handle & Pro plan
Purchasing a handle or subscribing to Pro boosts reputation.
